The Maneki-neko Japanese Lucky Cat Black is a common Japanese figurine which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. In modern times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic, like this one.
The figurine depicts a cat, traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail, with a paw raised in a Japanese beckoning gesture. The figurines are often displayed near the entrance of homes and businesses.
Some maneki-neko are equipped with a mechanical paw which slowly moves back and forth like this one. It does require a single double A battery to operate.
Our Maneki-neko come in different colours and styles and vary in degrees of detail. Maneki-neko are sometimes referred to simply as “lucky cats”.
Don’t forget to place it facing the entrance or door to attract luck!
